Claim: The best investment a parent can make is to educate their children. As much as children need to be on vacation so that they refresh from the continuous demands of going to school and being taught as students. However during the school vacations the children with very little to do and stay indoors and watch television all day. This is a great concern because the children are deprived of the fresh air and exercise they would otherwise get when playing outdoors. This is a concern in these times because of the urbanisation. This holiday camp however provides children the fun packed, educational activities, drama and gymnastics.

Context: During the school vacations, working parents have very few options on how best to keep their children around and still be able to go to work without worrying if their children are safe. They might worry about what they are being exposed to when watching television. The alternatives may be to send their parents to spend their school vacations to visit their relatives or hire a baby sitter. This holiday camp is a haven that parents can send their children to during the school vacation to give them a healthy fun yet educational break from school.

Service Idea: This initiative targets the working parents and tries to ease their responsibilities over their children during the school vacations. It is an educational retreat for children, keeping them away from the habitual things that the urban community and lifestyles are imposing on the children. These things include obsession with television and playing video games indoors. This initiative tries to illuminate lack of exercise and the over indulgence in mischievous activities which children tend to do when they are left without proper supervision.

Function Address: Education, exercise and Heath are fundamental components that the future of tomorrow’s leaders requires for humanity to thrive. Our children wield the potential to be great scientists, philosophers and athletes. With the family structures that exist within the urban setup, it is not easy for working parent to take it upon themselves to provide the equipment and training especially for the young children under the age of 10. This is where the Holiday camp comes in. The parents are able to give their children the good start that the children need yet being able to concentrate on their work. The camp is a fun filled retreat that children can be sent to.

Summary of Initiative: The initiative responds to parents demand for trained and organised day care during school vacations that would offer something productive, educational and progressive.
